I loved this writing and nature brings me to realize how profound it can be in expressing a spiritual truth, as well as a larger reality not always clear or appreciated in our culture to day.
One of my favorites was ……
Grace is built on nature. That is one I like to ponder. Grace comes in other forms, of course, but many profound life events come via natural. for instance, birth, nursing a child, church sacraments, prayer,
Moments of joy….with a child or a pet.
watching the ocean, walking on the beach.
And one morning I glanced over at a plant in my home and I saw the physical growth actually happen,…I still remember this.
Dogs playing at the beach, toddlers doing what toddlers do naturally, and. The Birth of a child. When my first grandson was born the world stood still ad I watched him breathe life into his lungs.
Thank you, Gloria, for your memorable evocation of those fleeting moments in life that can mean so much. You help us recall times of our own that stood out, and remain half-forgotten in the timeless mists of memory.
I feel that same way about nature speaking to us, Alice! There is a hillside near our house that burned last year. Thankfully no properties were damaged during the fire, but the scorched land was unsightly for months. Then the rains came this spring and the most amazing thing occurred on that patch of land….. beautiful flowers rose from the ashes and filled the hillside with brilliant color. People would pull over to take pictures. The rest of the hillside was home to mature trees as before the fire, but nowhere was a flower to be seen amongst them. It made me ponder about life and death. Maybe nature was trying to show me that when death occurs and casts a very dark cloud, that we should not be discouraged because new life and beauty can still come…..it will just take on a different form.
Nature speaks to all of us. We only have to listen. The seasons mirror our lives.
